Lake Tekapo, New Zealand

We spent 3 nights on the shores of Lake Tekapo, where the wind blows strong enough to create waves that crash along the shoreline. Our first night there, we attended a night sky tour at Mount John Observatory, in one of only a handful of Dark Sky Reserves in the world, where we viewed the stars through powerful telescopes and one of the astrophotographers mounted my camera on a sky tracking device to snap a few shots of the night sky.
